Abstract: This article is a report of the first 3 years of collaboration between a university early childhood teacher education program and a hospital’s program for families of children with special needs. The benefits of the collaboration included students participating in authentic learning experiences with children with and without special needs and their families and having the opportunity to observe and interact with a transdisciplinary team.

Integration: The information presented in this article fits well with content presented in the early childhood courses Child Development and Child, Family and Community.
