Abstract: In this 11:29-minute video, Dr. Ilene Schwartz defines inclusion as “not a set of strategies or a placement issue. Inclusion is about belonging to a community-a group of friends, a school community, or a neighborhood.” She emphasizes that inclusion is not just about being there, it is about belonging and participating fully and that teachers can create an inclusive environment through intentional instruction.

Integration: The information presented in this video fits well with content presented in the early childhood course Curriculum Planning.

Content Focus: Curriculum Planning; Database Instruction; Inclusion; Intentional Instruction; Intentional Teaching; Membership; Relationship; Skills; Student Outcomes
